Mum and Dad have now both had their DNA test results back from FTDNA. Over the next little while i'll be pouring over the results and hopefully be able to see where my own matches meet theirs to work out which side of the tree everyone is from.
If you fancy having your test done head over to FTDNA for a test. Family Finder is only $99 USD. Would be great to link with you all.
I've spent a bit of time the past month cleaning up and adding new details. Since I've tested with FTDNA nearly a year and a half ago, I've managed to find one link. I've just finished adding more wives and husbands to try and pull in a few more cousins. I've also arranged for my Mother and Father to take FTDNA Family Finder Tests which will hopefully identify which DNA lines come from which side, and also give us a bit more reach. FF on FTDNA is only $99 USD plus shipping, so worth it if your interested in getting started with DNA
I've also been through the tree and geocoded all location data, so the mapping module on the site now works. It's interesting to see where the clumps of the family come from and where they moved too. I'll be comparing Krysty's family against mine, as i think we were all in the same placed (Harpenden area) around the same time. Perhaps we're kissing cousins!
I recently connected to a lady who is my third cousin twice removed, connected through my Great-Great-Great-Great-grandfather, who was the brother of her Great-Great-grandmother
Mum and Baby are both doing well. Dad and the big brothers Kai and Arlen are all very excited.
The Haplotype has come back as R-M222 which is associated with Niall of the Nine Hostages. This group is from the Northern sections of Ireland and Lowlands of Scotland. Some deep Celtic roots!
Initial results show no links to the supposed "John Steele" in the family lore, but hopefully it's a step in the direction oft he discovery of this mystery man!
